Rangia (Assam), Nov 17 (PTI) A local leader of Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU) was stabbed by a person over a minor issue in Kamrup district, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday evening at the youth festival of the Brahmaputra Valley Academy in Goroimari near Chhaygaon, an officer said.

The injured was rushed to Goroimari Public Health Centre, which referred him to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. He was declared dead.

The deceased has been identified as local AAMSU leader Lohit Hussain.

Meanwhile, the public tracked down the attacker and handed him over to the police.

Locals attacked the accused’s house and set it on fire, police said.
