A 54-year-old man from Naples, who had arrived at the well-known rehabilitation center for drug addicts for robbery and possession for the purpose of drug trafficking, was arrested. Yesterday morning, carabinieri of the Operative and Mobile Radio Unit of the Caserta Company confirmed that the 54-year-old man first stole a car from a worker of the center and then drove at full speed on the highway towards Naples. Arriving in Caserta and running out of cash, he decided to rob one of the shops in the city center with a box cutter he had hidden in his pocket, but failed because the shopkeeper refused to hand over the cash from the register. Instead, the employee, taking advantage of a moment of distraction from the man, contacted the emergency number 112, alerting the carabinieri, who arrived in a few minutes. Meanwhile, the 54-year-old tried to escape in the vehicle stolen a few hours earlier but was intercepted on Via Giovanni Bosco and stopped. During the search, he was found in possession of the box cutter used for the attempted robbery and some doses of cocaine in the car, deposited in the glove box next to the gear shifter. The 54-year-old man was then taken to Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison and will have to answer for robbery, attempted robbery and escape.
