Woman in her 30s badly sexually assaulted at bus stop as police launch manhunt for attacker

A WOMAN was seriously sexually assaulted at a bus stop in the early hours of this morning – with a manhunt launched.

The 30-year-old victim was walking when she was approached by a man who allegedly attacked her in Ipswich, police said.

A crime scene is currently on Nacton Road, off Clapgate Lane.

The incident happened at around 4am and Suffolk Police said the victim was being assisted by specialist officers.

The force is appealing for anyone who may have any relevant ringer, dash cam or CCTV footage from the attack.

Police described how the woman was “approached by a man who allegedly sexually assaulted her severely”.

Detective Inspector Brett Harris said: “We understand the concern this incident will raise, but we want to reassure the public that we are investigating all lines of inquiry to ensure we can find those responsible.

“A scene is in place and the local community can expect to see an increased police presence in and around the area.

“I would encourage members of the public to approach our officers if they have any concerns.

“We are appealing for anyone with information to contact officers.

“Particularly if you were in the area at the time of the incident and saw anything that looked suspicious, unusual or out of place.”
