Williamson man faces multiple charges for causing a motor vehicle accident, instigating a prolonged domestic incident

A Williamson man is facing multiple charges following a domestic dispute that led to a car crash in Arcadia Saturday morning, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Winston D. Sharpe, 26, of Arrowbend Drive after responding to an incident on Hydesville Road. Authorities say Sharpe was involved in a prolonged domestic altercation with a woman who was protected by an active Protective Order.

During the dispute, the woman was driving with Sharpe in the vehicle when he allegedly grabbed the wheel, causing the car to go off the road and into a ditch. The vehicle was badly damaged and required towing, although none of the occupants were injured.

Sharpe now faces a number of charges, including two counts of first-degree criminal contempt — one for physical contact in violation of the protective order and another for causing property damage over $250. Additional charges include second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment of property and second-degree harassment.

After being taken into custody, Sharpe was processed by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Wayne County Jail, where he is awaiting arraignment in federal court.
