Troubles for music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs don’t seem to be getting any smaller. According to the latest reports, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs tried to reach out to witnesses and victims in his case to influence the jury’s verdict. Following this, prosecutors requested that Diddy be denied bail, which he applied for a third time.
The government charges were reportedly made Friday night in federal court in Manhattan. Sean filed the latest $50 million bail proposal, which was turned over to the city, just ahead of a bail hearing that is scheduled for next week.
Prosecutors presented a review of recorded jailhouse calls made by Combs that showed Diddy told his family members to reach out to potential victims and witnesses and urge them to come forward with their narratives to sway the jury.
In addition, Sean was accused of creating a marketing strategy to change his public image.
According to The Guardian, prosecutors wrote: “The defendant has repeatedly shown – even while in custody – that he will blatantly and repeatedly break the rules to improperly affect the outcome of his case. The defendant has shown, in other words, that he cannot be trusted to follow rules or conditions.”
It was also pointed out that Combs tried to silence the victims and influence witnesses to strengthen his defense. Combs Lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
According to prosecutors, this is not the first time Combs has run afoul of the law. He has been breaking the rules since his arrest in September. The hip-hop artist has pleaded not guilty to all sex trafficking and racketeering charges brought against him.
Previously, the two judges to whom he proposed bail rejected his request and concluded that he is a threat to society and there is a risk that he will flee. Thus, his lawyers tried a third time with a bail proposal of 50 million dollars.
