Woman charged after $1.5K stolen from parked semi truck in Missouri city

CENTERVIEW, Mo. (KCTV) – A woman has been charged with stealing more than $1,500 in items from a semi truck parked next to an abandoned building in a rural Missouri town.

Henry County, Missouri, Circuit Court Records filed Wednesday, Nov. 13, indicate Casey Hoyt, 35, of Calhoun, was charged for more than $1,500 that was lost during the theft of a semi truck.

A probable cause statement filed by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office noted that around 4:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​N. Depot and N. Graham Sts. in Centerview with reports that a woman had been found in an abandoned building.

When first responders arrived, the victim reported finding Hoyt holding documents he kept in the cab of his semi truck. She allegedly offered oral sex in exchange for a ride to Alabama. When the victim told him she was going to call law enforcement, he ran into a nearby wooded area.

In all, investigators found Hoyt had stolen a navigation system, a CB radio and five six-packs of Dr. Pepper, which came to about $1,535. On Tuesday, she was spotted at an address near the crime scene. The owner said Hoyt had been staying with him before she was found inside. The stolen items were found on a nearby trail.

Law enforcement officials said Hoyt was found inside the home and taken into custody. During an interview, she said she had consumed a large amount of alcohol and denied any memory of the previous night.

As of Saturday, Nov. 15, Hoyt remains behind bars in Henry County on a $10,000 bond. She faces one count of theft of $750 or more and could face up to 7 years in prison as well as a $10,000 fine. A bond reduction hearing has been set for Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 9 a.m. No other information has been released.
