A Northern Cambria man is stealing from the agency that hired him, police said

A Northern Cambria man was jailed Monday on charges of making unauthorized purchases from an agency that once employed him, authorities said.

Northern Cambria Borough police charged James Matthew Wylie, 36, of the 600 block of Gray Avenue, with two counts each of theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

According to an affidavit, Wylie allegedly used a business account for Quality Life Services Inc. to make unauthorized purchases on Aug. 29 totaling $922.18.

Wylie reportedly purchased a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2-Tool Impact Wrench Kit and a 17-inch straight-shaft Echo gas trimmer.

The agency refused to pay the account because it did not give Wylie approval.

Wylie is no longer employed there.

Quality Life Services supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Cambria County.

Wylie also faces charges in connection with the alleged theft of tickets and money from the Cambria Pit Stop in Hastings Borough.

According to an affidavit, Wylie entered the Beaver Street business at 5:46 p.m. on Sept. 17 and walked around the store until an employee left the counter area.

Wylie allegedly went behind the counter and grabbed the money bag containing $157 worth of bills and $1,687 in cash.

Hastings Borough Police charged Wylie with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Wylie was arraigned Monday in both cases by U.S. District Judge Michel Zungali, of Hastings, and sent to the Cambria County Jail in Ebensburg. Bond was denied.
