Families remember victims of double homicides

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The family of 21-year-old Joshua Parsons is trying to pick up the pieces. Parsons and 16-year-old Alexis Wise were found shot to death inside a car on Princeton Avenue Tuesday night. No one is in custody at this time.

Alexandra Kimbrell says her family has been friends with the Parsons since her father was a child. She says she’s struggling right now knowing Joshua was taken from them because of such senseless violence and says this is something neither Parsons nor Wise deserved.

“Josh was the only boy. He had two older sisters and two younger sisters, but Josh was still the child. I mean, he was the little boy.”

Kimbrell says the Parsons are a tight-knit family.

“Josh was younger than us. I remember Josh was in diapers and couldn’t talk, but he was riding motorcycles like nobody’s business. He was a determined little guy who put his heart into everything he did,” says Kimbrell.

Although Josh was the child, he protected his girls – his mother and sisters – and it was hard for them to know that he was taken by gun violence. It’s not the first time he’s faced a loss recently.

“He’s grieving his father, who just recently died in a house fire, so this family has been hit really hard. It’s not fair, it’s cruel. Joshua had a family, he had friends, he mattered it will always matter, we will not stop until the people or peoples who are responsible for this are caught,” says Kimbrell.

both Parsons and Wise have GoFundMe accounts set up to help their families as they prepare to say goodbye.
