CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Ascension St. locations. Vincent of Southside, Riverside and Clay County received excellent marks in hospital safety for the fall of 2024, ranking them 15th in the nation.

According to The Leapfrog Group, St. Vincent’s South Side, Clay County earned an “A” and St. Vincent’s Riverside earned a “B” for overall acute care.

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization that evaluates 3,000 hospitals each year using a system based on the prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries in hospitals.

The system, based on peer review and public scrutiny, consists of more than 30 measures of national performance, updated each fall and spring.

“We are blessed to see continued success at Clay County and improvements in our safety ratings at Riverside and Southside,” said Dr. Mario Pulido, Chief Medical Officer St. Vincent. “These grades are the result of the hard work and dedication of our physicians, care teams and associates who put the safety and well-being of our patients first.”

“St. Vincent Southside and Clay County are among less than 30 percent of hospitals nationwide to earn an ‘A’ in fall 2024. In Florida, the hospitals are two of 71 to earn an ‘A'” , according to the press release.

“Achieving an ‘A’ hospital safety rating is a significant achievement for St. Vincent’s Southside and Clay County,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects an enormous dedication to your patients and their families; your entire community should be proud. Happy St. Vincent’s, its management, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
