The Pistons veteran remains on the injury report against the Raptors after a big scare

Tuesday night’s action between the Detroit Pistons and the Miami Heat featured a major injury scare for the home team. While Tim Hardaway Jr was knocked down, the veteran power forward needed assistance to get up and off the court.

Hardaway had to be immediately tested to see if he suffered a concussion during the game.

According to NBA Insider Chris Haynesa CAT scan came back negative for Hardaway. However, he had to get stitches after being elbowed in the face. The Pistons officially diagnosed Hardaway with a head injury.

The following night, the Pistons visited the Milwaukee Bucks. As expected, Hardaway was ruled out for the game. It marked the first time he would miss a game since being traded to the Pistons from the Dallas Mavericks.

Heading into Friday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors, Hardaway remains on the injury report. He has a slim chance of playing, but will likely be sidelined. According to the injury report, Hardaway is doubtful for the Raptors.

Without Hardaway on the court against the Bucks, the Pistons didn’t have Simone Fontecchio coming as he was ruled out for the night with a toe injury. While Isaiah Stewart saw his fair share of action at forward, he remained in a bench role.

The Pistons promoted rookie first-round forward Ron Holland to the starting lineup. Holland checked in for 28 minutes, producing 11 points, four rebounds and two assists. Holland filled the role well, but the Pistons’ starting five missed Hardaway’s high-volume shot.

In 12 games this year, Hardaway has attempted six 3-pointers per game. He averaged 13 points on 47 percent shooting from the field and 46 percent from three.

Hardaway appears to be closer to a return than expected as he has seen a slight improvement in his injury report status recently. However, Detroit seems to be banking on the assumption that they likely won’t get the nod to go against the Raptors on Friday night.
