Salt Lake man charged with threatening group at gunpoint over allegedly stolen wallet

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A Salt Lake City man was arrested Thursday, Nov. 15, after he allegedly threatened three men outside a convenience store who he believed had stolen his wallet.

Heath Lee Lucas, 36, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and faces charges of first-degree robbery and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Police say Lucas demanded money from three victims at the store on Wednesday night, November 13th. When told no, Lucas allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victims. The three victims ran back into the store, while Lucas fled the scene in a green Subaru Outback.

On Thursday, officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department spotted a car matching the description of the Subaru in which Lucas was believed to have fled. Lucas was later seen getting into the car when he was stopped by officers.

Lucas allegedly told officers he noticed his wallet was missing, adding that an AirTag showed it was in the store. According to court documents, Lucas said he believed the three victims had taken his wallet and approached them to ask them to give it back. He reportedly admitted to pointing the firearm at the three men to retrieve his wallet before they fled.

Allegations are just allegations. All persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
