BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Louisiana State Police have confirmed that one person has died following a crash on Scenic Highway early Friday morning.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. near Thomas Road and appears to have involved a sedan and a dump truck, according to authorities.

The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office and the Baton Rouge Police Department responded to the scene. Louisiana State Police are taking over the investigation.

Motorists should avoid the area at this time.
