Teenage burglary suspects identified on home surveillance video

COVENTRY, CT (WFSB) – Three teenagers were arrested for breaking into a Coventry home and spending “a considerable amount of time there” while the homeowners were away, police said.

The juvenile suspects were identified only as 15, 16 and 17 years old.

Theft was reported Nov. 1 at a home on Woodland Road.

Police said the home had been vacant for a period of time. When the homeowners returned, they reported finding evidence that someone had forced their way in and appeared to have spent a long time there.

After viewing surveillance footage from the home, officers said they were able to determine the identities of the suspects involved based on their appearance and the fact that they referred to each other by name in the video.

The suspects were arraigned in Superior Juvenile Court in Willimantic.

All three were charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass and sixth-degree larceny.

The 17-year-old was additionally charged with possession of alcohol by a minor, police said.
