New details in deadly hit after suspect kills 2 kids and takes off

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – FOX5 has learned Las Vegas police tried to stop a stolen car before a fatal crash that killed two children at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Pecos Road.

The crash happened on Friday, Nov. 8, but FOX5 is learning new details after reviewing the arrest report.

It all started at the Albertson’s on Desert Inn Road and Pecos Road.

Police say they saw the stolen Lexus, driven by Nikki Serrat.

After they attempted a traffic stop, they said Serrat sped off.

At the intersection of Flamingo and Pecos is where police say surveillance video shows Serrat speeding through the intersection, crashing into an SUV carrying four children and a mother.

We do know that one of the children, 11-year-old Dante Lewis, died at the scene. His sister Taaliyah, 6, died at the hospital. The family has set up a GoFundMe page asking for donations for financial support.

A memorial is growing for the children at the intersection, but the details of the accident don’t stop there.

The police report states that after the accident, Serrat, who was already on probation, fled the scene.

According to a witness who tried to check on the crash victims, Serrat pushed the door on her, preventing her from getting out and helping.

Serrat was arrested the next day in North Las Vegas.

She is expected to make an initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Nov. 18 at 8 a.m.
