EXCLUSIVE — The mother of a 16-year-old Texas girl who was brutally murdered, allegedly by a illegal immigrant from mexico, in her own home last December, says Trump’s victory last week made her cry.

“When I heard the news this morning that he won, I cried,” Jacqueline Medina told Fox News Digital. “I cried because I thought about my daughter. The Biden-Harris administration has failed us terribly.”

Medina’s “beautiful, loving, joyful, funny” 16-year-old daughter, Lizbeth Medina, was killed on December 5, 2023. Rafael Govea Romero, the 24-year-old man charged with capital murder in connection with the attack, is scheduled to be tried next month.

“With (Trump) winning, I really hope that there are stricter laws so that we can protect our children, our children, our families and our loved ones from having this happen to them again,” Medina said.

Medina had left their apartment early for work on December 5, 2023. Her daughter usually left for school shortly after, but that day she didn’t make it to school or to the Christmas parade her cheerleading squad was supposed to attend to train.

Romero had a criminal record in Texas and was on probation at the time of his arrest in connection with Lizbeth’s murder, Edna Police Chief Rick Boone Fox News Digital previously said.

It appears that the murder suspect has been released for a burglary in 2022 Schulenburgabout 60 miles from Edna, the Fayette County Record first reported. Edna police said Romero may also be connected to a burglary that occurred at Lizbeth’s home about a month before her murder.

Neither Medina nor Lizbeth knew Romero, but Medina noted that their home had been burglarized on Nov. 13, about a month before the teenager was killed. Edna police officers believe that Romero may have been involved in the burglary and may have been stalking Lizbeth before would have attacked and killed her.

“I’m still lost. I still feel like I don’t know what to do with my life.”

“My whole life has been my daughter,” Medina said. “And I still find it very difficult to find myself, to find the direction I need to take in life. The only thing keeping me strong right now is the fact that we still have to get justice for her. We are also trying to keep busy raising funds… for her scholarship fund that we raised for the Edna cheerleaders, and we are donating specific funds to promote kids in her name.

Medina said she wants her daughter to be remembered for the kind and accomplished young woman she was, rather than her tragic death.

“But at the same time, I want everyone to hear her story so they understand why things need to change,” Medina said. “That’s the only way people will know why we want things to change.”
