A delegation of those injured during the July-August riot presented their seven-point demand in a meeting with government advisers at the Secretariat that began at 4:40 p.m.

One of the demands is for the state to ensure the same standard of medical treatment for the injured that would have been given to a minister or adviser to the caretaker government.

In the press release for the seven points, signed by Zihad Islam, coordinator of the families of the martyrs and wounded of the uprising, they also said that the medical expenses of the injured who received treatment at their own expense should be reimbursed.

Another demand was that the wounded and martyrs should be issued special cards and given a special monthly allowance for another generation along with their rehabilitation.

They have made the request for a museum named “Smriti Foundation” to commemorate those killed or injured during the 2024 mass uprising and an annual mass signature campaign program between July 1 and August 5.

They called for the formation of an independent inquiry committee to examine the medical records of those killed or dismembered during the mass riot and to take legal action if any evidence of medical negligence is found.

They also demanded a quick prosecution of the Awami League and its accomplices and a ban on these organisations.

They also called for the voices of injured protesters and the families of those killed to be taken into account in future state reform initiatives.

A group of protesters receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the July-August mass uprising demonstrated outside the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) yesterday with various demands, including better treatment and government assistance.

The protesters relented and agreed to return to their hospitals with the assurance of support and quick release of funds after four counselors went to NITOR today at 2:30 and assured the protesters of proper treatment and of rehabilitation.

Councilors last night offered to hold a meeting this afternoon with representatives from among the protesters.
