DENVER (KKTV) – A registered sex offender from Denver has been sentenced to 35 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release for engaging in and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on a dark-web website, according to the Colorado US Attorney’s Office.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Christopher Carl Meier, 41, of Denver was already a registered sex offender for sexually exploiting a child in 2013 when he became a member of a dark web site devoted to CSAM material and discussions of child sexual abuse. the boys. .

Meier has made over 600 posts on the dark web and has been a member for over 18 months. Prosecutors said Meier convinced the boys to engage in sex acts via webcam by making them believe they were interacting with girls their own age.

The FBI said it was aware of at least 65 victims of Meier’s CSAM.

On July 9, Meier pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute CSAM and set the warrants for distribution of CSAM, prosecutors said.
