COLUMBIA, MO (KMIZ)

Multiple Columbia police officers responded to East Walnut Street in Columbia near Stephens Lake Park Thursday evening after an assault was reported at the Conley Road Walmart.

Officers at the scene told ABC 17 News that someone was assaulted at the nearby Walmart and the suspect fled. That person was apprehended near the Reichmann Pavilion on the north side of the park.

Officers said no weapons were used in the attack, but a gun was displayed. An ABC 17 News reporter saw a man handcuffed next to a police vehicle. Police said there are no other suspects and there is no threat to the public.

At least seven Columbia police officers were on the scene.
