PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A man was arrested Thursday in connection with an Oct. 20 homicide on Jefferson Street.

Jamel Raiquon Jones, 27, was wanted on charges of first-degree murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, malicious wounding, drive-by shooting and discharging a firearm in a public place .

A shooting on Jefferson Street in Portsmouth leaves 1 dead and 2 injured

Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Jefferson St around 5:30pm where they found a man shot. The man, who was later identified as 44-year-old Danyelle Akoya Lee, later died from his injuries.

Two other men were treated for the shooting but survived, police said.

Jones is currently in custody and is being held without bond.
