BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities say a Blair County man is behind bars after allegedly fracturing another man’s skull during an altercation earlier this week.

Police said Wednesday that Terry Merritts, 61, of Altoona, allegedly beat the victim with a stick-like object during an argument over baseball cards.

According to the affidavit, police say the man suffered a serious head injury during the attack and was later treated for a fractured skull.

Upon further investigation, authorities learned that the victim had confronted Merritts about a “discrepancy” regarding the location of where the baseball cards were placed.

Police say Merritts then grabbed the object like a stick and began hitting the victim with it, hitting him twice in the head and once in the stomach.

He is being held in the Blair County Jail on $150,000 bond.
