Trump and Harris are deadlocked in two new polls as the election nears

A pair of new polls released Saturday show the race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris is heating up in the final days of the 2024 presidential campaign.

With barely a week to go, Trump and Harris were tied at 49 percent each according to a survey from Emerson College and 48% respectively. according to TIPP Insights.

Both polls come just one day after the New York Times/Sienna polls also found the race at a standstill.

For both Emerson and Gray Lady, the results show what has been a slow decline for Harris.

In August, Emerson showed Harris leading Trump nationally 50 percent to 46 percent, while an Oct. 8 poll showed Harris leading Trump by three points.

“With 10 days until Election Day, the national poll finds a divided electorate,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, in a statement accompanying the latest findings. “In this poll, independents report a 49 percent drop for Trump to 46 percent — a reversal from 2020, where they reported voting for Biden by about 10 points.”

“Male voters fall for Trump by 13 points, 55% to 42%, a wider margin than in 2020, while women fall for Harris by 10 points, 54% to 44%, underperforming Biden’s support in 2020,” Kimball added.

Throughout the race, Trump has dominated voters’ biggest issues, the economy and immigration, where he routinely leads Harris.
