The Claim: Trump nominated Amber Rose for Secretary of Education

A post with topics from November 12 (direct link, archive link) shows an image of model and reality TV star Amber Rose next to what appears to be a statement from President-elect Donald Trump.

“DEPARTMENT: Donald Trump has nominated Amber Rose for Secretary of Education,” the post read.

The Threads post received over 600 likes in two days. Similar versions also circulated widely on Instagram and on X, formerly Twitter.

Our Rating: False

There is no credible evidence to support the claim. The alleged statement about Rose does not appear on any of Trump’s official social media accounts where he has shared announcements of his genuine Cabinet nominations.

No evidence that Rose chose her as head of education

After defeating Democratic nominee Kamala Harris in the presidential elections, Trump announced a series of nominated for various posts in His cabinet. Those picks, however, do not include Rose as secretary of education.

Every one of Trump’s actual selections was announced in a statement POSTED to social networks by the president-elect. However, the alleged statement about Rose, does not appear in any post from his account. In addition, while every choice received significant coverage FROM legitimate media outletsno credible news organization has published any reports linking the Roses to a Cabinet position.

Nor Rose – a former reality TV star, rapper and model WHO opposed Trump in 2016 but spoke in his support at the 2024 Republican National Convention — made any mention of her presumptive nomination any one hers social media accounts. It does not appear on any lists of potential choices for the position heads the Department of Education – an agency Trump referred to the shutdown. That move was endorsed by Betsy DeVoswho served as education secretary during Trump’s first term.

USA TODAY previously debunked the false claims the images show white celebrities picnicking at a black church where Trump spoke and Taylor Swift wears a t-shirt with an anti-Trump slogan.

USA TODAY reached out to spokespeople for Trump and Rose’s transition team, as well as the social media user who shared the claim, but did not immediately hear back.
