Teenage robbers use evasive tactics to avoid capture by police in Hyderabad | News from Hyderabad

Teenagers avoided main roads, took wrong routes to throw the police off their scent

Hyderabad: Two 17-year-old youths, who were nabbed by the Hyderabad police on Wednesday for robbing a security guard in Abids and assaulting a lawyer near Imax, took all precautions to evade the cops and leave no trace , even on CCTV cameras.
The pair took off the license plate of the scooter used in the crime, wore masks, avoided main roads and even took wrong routes to throw police off the trail after Tuesday’s double robbery.
Before zeroing in on the duo, the police scrutinized around 300 CCTV cameras on the main road and side roads from Abids to Musheerabad through Imax, covering around 10 km.
One of the boys is from Musheerabad and is an old criminal, having been involved in a robbery case in the past, while the other boy is his relative and lives in Bandlaguda.
One of the boys’ fathers is a state government employee and bought the scooter as a gift to the boy a few months ago.
According to the police, the two left at night on a scooter, looking for vulnerable people to rob. They reached the Abids area around 3.30 am on Tuesday and started roaming the inner lanes. After robbing a security guard at knifepoint about 4.30am, they made their way to Necklace Road, using narrow streets and dark spots and taking wrong routes to avoid being caught by CCTV.
When they reached near the Imax, they saw lawyer Kalyan Vamshikar of the BJP’s legal cell, who was out for an early morning walk with his pet dog. But since there were a few vehicles in the area, they passed him and made a U-turn. They approached him again, stabbed him with a knife, snatched his mobile phone and sped away on the scooter, which had no registration number.
From there they headed to Necklace Road. On their way to Musheerabad, they took a wrong turn and took roads until they reached one of the boy’s residences in Musheerabad.
“Because of all these evasion tactics, they were so confident that they didn’t even try to hide or stay away from the house. CCTVs near the two crime scenes gave the first clue and with further investigations , were followed,” an investigator said. officer. They are now in a juvenile detention center.
