Strong winds are expected to persist through the weekend, with showers expected on Saturday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Windy trade winds will persist into the weekend, with bands of moisture periodically moving across the state. Showers will be concentrated on windward and mauka exposures, with some of the showers moving to leeward areas. A slot of drier air moving in Friday could bring critical fire weather conditions to parts of the state. A broad band of moisture is expected on Saturday with showery conditions, particularly in the windward and Mauka areas.

A high surf advisory remains in effect for the north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, as well as the north-facing shores of Maui through Thursday. The NW tide is ebbing. Rough and choppy surf along east-facing shores will gradually become higher from Thursday onwards. Surf height along south-facing shores remains low throughout the period.
