Tom Doak’s Old Petty appearance at Cabot Highlands will be previewed in 2025

The new Old Petty course at Cabot Highlands in Inverness, Scotland will open for walk-only preview in August and September 2025.

Tees will be made available to golfers who also have a reservation at the Castle Stuart course in Cabot Highlands.

Tom Doak designed and directed Old Petty, and associate Clyde Johnson took charge of the project. Also assisting was agronomist and shaper Chris Haspell, who worked on the original Castle Stuart links.

The course’s opening and closing holes have intersecting fairways. The second plays past the Old Petty Church and the third plays past Castle Stuart. From the fifth, the golfers turned inward for the rest of the front nine. The tenth has the Moray Firth as its backdrop before turning inland and then returning to the tidal estuary in the fourteenth. The penultimate hole is a short par three.

The speedway at Old Petty will also double as a short course, a feature successfully used at other Cabot locations Cabot Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada and Cabot Citrus Farms in Florida, USA.

“We are truly honored to serve as stewards of this remarkable land and carry forward the original vision for the property,” said Ben Cowan-Dewar, Cabot co-founder and CEO.

“Our aim is to create unforgettable memories in magical places and few places in the world are more breathtaking than the Scottish Highlands.

“Old Petty, guided by Tom Doak’s vision, will be an outstanding addition to the Highlands golf landscape. Its design will harmonize beautifully with its natural surroundings, truly elevating the land it occupies.”
