A recent Stardew Valley update temporarily messed up the mods. It’s already been fixed, but the game developer has apologized for the issues anyway and promised it won’t happen again.








Recently released update 1.6.9 for PC version a Stardew Valley it turned out to be quite problematic. Apart from the long-awaited improvements to the game, the patch broke many modes. Even though the game’s creator, Eric Barone, doesn’t officially support the mod, he still decided to apologize for these issues.


  1. As he explains, The reason for these problems is that the update is released too early. Patch releases are usually coordinated with the modders who create them SMAPI (Stardew Modding API)a project that provides game-changing infrastructure and tools. This time it was missing.
  2. Eric Barone has assured fans that a new version of SMAPI is in development, ensuring the mod’s compatibility with patch 1.6.9. Players did not have to wait long, as the updated edition of this project, marked with the number 4.1.7, was released a few hours after the developer’s post was published..
  3. At the same time, Barone points out on Steam that you can always roll back the game if something similar happens in the future.

Eric Barone detailed his plans to avoid similar problems in the future. In addition to overseeing coordination with SMAPI creators, he will also release updates less frequently. The released patches will be bigger. This way, modders won’t have to constantly adjust their projects to the new version of the game.

Stardew Valley was released in February 2016 on PC. The game was then ported to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation Vita consoles, as well as mobile devices with iOS and Android systems.
