Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport under threat, caller says passenger carrying bombs to Azerbaijan

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport received a bomb threat on Wednesday afternoon when an unidentified caller claimed there was a conspiracy to blow up the airport.

The call was made to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) control room, with the caller specifically mentioning a person named Mohammad, who was allegedly carrying explosives on a flight from Mumbai to Azerbaijan.

After receiving the threat, the CISF immediately alerted the Sahar Police, which led to a quick security check of the airport premises. Authorities have stepped up surveillance and carried out thorough checks to ensure the safety of passengers.

In the middle of a increase in airline threat callsThe National Investigation Agency (NIA) has stepped up security measures nationwide.

Fish 450 hoax calls were reported in Octoberwhich raised widespread concern about the potential implications for passenger safety and national security.

To address these growing threats, the cyber wing of the NIA has launched a comprehensive analysis of these foreign threat calls. This investigation focuses on discerning the motives behind these calls and assessing their authenticity.

Taking a strong view on fake threats, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued a notice to all social media platforms in October, asking them to adhere to the provisions of the Information Technology (IT) and Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita ( BNS ) Rules. and make “reasonable efforts” to “promptly” remove bomb threat posts or otherwise “be held accountable.”
