Gravitas Ventures acquires rights to religious horror ‘dwellers’

Gravity Ventures has acquired the US and Canadian rights to the religious horror film “population” from Brick Lane Entertainment. Written and directed by Matt McClung (“Crazy Whale”), Gravitas plans to release the film on digital and VOD in February 2025.

Cast members include Anna Jacoby-Heron (“Stranger Things”), Josh Andrés Rivera (“American Sports Story”), Ana Auther (“Shadow Brother Sunday”), Todd Robert Anderson (“Good Girls”) and Kevin Nealon (“Man with a Plan”). According to the official journal, the film follows “a young woman who moves in with her lapsed Catholic boyfriend, only to find they are haunted by the vengeful ghost of his childhood youth pastor.”

“Gravitas is excited to bring ‘Dwellers’ to the public this February,” said Gravitas Ventures Acquisitions Manager Mackenzie Maguire. “This haunting journey explores religious guilt in relationships and will be the perfect escape from traditional Valentine’s Day romance.”

“We are excited to partner with Gravitas Ventures to bring The Dwellers to the widest possible audience,” said McClung. “Our film deals with a wide range of topics – fear, guilt, faith, relationships – that we hope will make it resonate beyond the original premise. But most of all, this is a scary movie to watch on a rainy night. We are excited to share it with the world.”

Thomas Rennier is a producer for Genesius. Executive producers include Todd Slater and Brandon Evans for Brick Lane Entertainment, Frank Tai, Michael Farmer, Steve Rennier, Palle Gravesen Jensen, Guillermo Roman, Van Theodorou, Richard Thieriot and Jordan Reinwald.

Gravitas’ Maguire negotiated the deal with Brick Lane Entertainment’s Slater on behalf of the filmmakers.
