Coronation Street confirms murder charge against Joel in ITVX launch

Coronation Street Spoilers ahead for Wednesday’s (November 13) episode, which can be watched now on streaming service ITVX and has yet to air on TV.

Coronation Street aired a dramatic episode in which the police charge someone with Joel Deering’s murder.

This Friday (November 15), the show will broadcast a special episode where viewers will see exactly what happened the night of Joel’s death, and the truth will finally be revealed.

As this episode approaches, today’s episode began with a sequence of flashbacks where many of the suspects thought about their various memories of that fateful series.

Carla was especially worried after remembering this saw Max and Lauren putting a red suitcase into a carand David told her they were heading to the hospital as Frankie was being discharged today.

The new suspect Lisa was released from prison, and when she expressed her concern that she was booked for murderCarla decided to go to the hospital herself.

As Max and Lauren looked forward to their future with Frankie, Carla confronted them about the suitcase – convinced she wouldn’t plan to flee Weatherfield without taking the baby with them.

She urged them to go talk to the police, threatening to tell them herself if they kept quiet. Carla then told Dee-Dee and Lisa about what she saw, and Dee-Dee confirmed that it was Joel’s suitcase.

With the police on their side, Max and Lauren decided to hide out in Joel’s old apartment. Lisa and Kit met Lauren’s foster carer at the hospital, and the two were nowhere to be seen.

Lauren was devastated that they wouldn’t be able to have the life of their dreams, so Max promised to make it happen by suggesting they run away abroad with Frankie.

He asked her to buy some things for Frankie, but when she returned, Lauren was heartbroken to find that Max had disappeared. He turned himself in to the police and confessed to Kit that he killed Joel.

Lauren went to Dee-Dee’s apartment and acted oblivious when told what Max had done. She finally admitted that she was just trying to protect Max.

In the police interview, Max explained that he visited Joel and fought with him using the CS spray, which he stole from Lisa’s bag. Indeed, a flashback showed a huge fight between the pair on a railway bridge.

He said he hit Joel with a rock in self-defence, then panicked and pushed his body into the river before escaping with the suitcase.

Later, David was shocked to learn that his son had been charged with murder, but in his jail cell, Max asked himself, “What have you done?”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and airs on ITVX.
