An officer-involved shooting was reported in Las Cruces

The Doña Ana County Officer Involved Incident Task Force is looking into an officer-involved shooting that happened Monday night, the Las Cruces Police Department said.

It happened in the 1300 block of S. Espina Street.

Officials said they responded to a man armed with a gun yelling outside an apartment complex.

Upon arrival, an LCPD officer encountered a gunman, officials said.

Following the incident, one officer fired at least one round and the man was shot at least once.

Officers arrested Danny Garcia De Leon, 50, who was treated and released from the hospital.

No officers were injured.

The Dona Ana County Officer Involved Incident Task Force, made up of the New Mexico State Police, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office, the New Mexico State University Police Department and the Las Cruces Police Department are investigating the incident.
