VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV) – The Vancouver Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Wednesday morning.

Just before 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Southeast 117th Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard. Police say a man was hit by a hit-and-run driver and taken to the hospital. The man, whose name has not yet been released, did not survive.

The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene. Police say there is no evidence of the driver being impaired at this time.

Traffic in the area will be affected for several hours while the Road Unit investigates. People are asked to avoid the area.
