ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – Five thieves were arrested in Enfield during a police operation to curb retail theft during the holiday season.

Skimming devices found at Springfield stores, suspects wanted

According to the Enfield Police Department, on Monday, one of the thieves who was arrested was caught with nearly $4,000 worth of merchandise while she was with her 12-year-old child. The woman had two active theft warrants in different cities.

During the loss prevention operation carried out by Enfield Community Policing Officers, a total of five people were arrested for shoplifting at various shops.

The police department is working with retailers to identify and arrest shoplifters. They say the theft creates high-priced items, job losses and store closings.
