First Forecast Alert: Rain returns today

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Be sure to keep your umbrella handy today as rain develops this afternoon and lasts overnight.

It will be a dry and cool start to our Wednesday with no major weather issues heading out the door this morning. But don’t forget to take that umbrella with you because it’s expected to rain later today.

An approaching cold front will bring another round of unsettled weather to the Midstate starting late this morning in far west Middle Tennessee. Showers will then move through the area more and more this afternoon, tonight and overnight. There will be some decent dry pockets but watch out for rain throughout the day.

There will be some heavy rain at times and don’t be surprised if there are a few rumbles of thunder. That said, no severe weather threats are expected today. Highs Wednesday will reach the mid-60s.

The rain will taper off by early Thursday morning before drying out completely by Thursday afternoon. In total, 1-2 inches of rain can be expected across the Midstate

Thursday’s highs will remain in the mid-60s.

The sun will return on Friday with highs still in the mid-60s with lows in the 40s.

The weekend is looking nice now, with temperatures in the upper 60s Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Saturday will be mostly sunny and we’ll see just a few more clouds Sunday afternoon.

Clouds will thicken again on Monday, with highs in the upper 60s and 70s.

Our next round of rain will try to push into the Midstate by Tuesday of next week
