A trial court previously refused to accept the contention that the report was incomplete in the absence of the examiner’s report while rejecting the cause of action for bail.

The High Court overturned the trial court’s finding on the limited issue that a final report was incomplete without an examiner’s report.

However, it allowed the dismissal of the default bail plea after finding that the final report (charge sheet) was filed within time.

Disappointed by the rejection of their bail application, the accused approached the high court for relief.

In December 2021, the apex court granted interim bail to some of the accused, considering the jail time already served.

On July 18, the Court sought the response of the central and state governments in the matter.
