CHICAGO – Two people were fatally shot Chinatown Monday night, prompting a Chicago police investigation.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 700 block of North Elizabeth Street around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found two people with gunshot wounds.

A victim was found in front of a home with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim was located behind the home with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary information suggests the shooting may have occurred inside the residence.

No arrests have been made and Area 1 detectives are investigating.
