President Donald J. Trump has nominated Pete Hegseth, a decorated Army combat veteran and FOX News host, to serve as Secretary of Defense in his cabinet.

The President expressed his confidence in Hegseth’s leadership, stating, “I am honored to announce that I have nominated Pete Hegseth to serve in my Cabinet as Secretary of Defense. Pete spent his entire life as a warrior for the troops and the country. Pete is tough, smart, and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice. Our military will be great again, and America will not back down.”

Hegseth, a graduate of Princeton University with a degree from Harvard University, brings a wealth of military experience to the role. He is a combat veteran, having served in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay. For his bravery and exemplary service, Hegseth was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman Badge.

Beyond his military service, Hegseth has been a vocal supporter of veterans and the military, using his platform as a host on FOX News for eight years to highlight issues affecting the armed forces. His recent book, The War on Warriors, spent nine weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, further solidifying his reputation as a fierce defender of those who serve.

The president emphasized that Hegseth’s leadership will be critical to ensuring that the U.S. military remains strong and steadfast. “Pete has the experience and dedication to lead our armed forces and continue to protect our nation,” Trump said.
