Drier, sunny, but cooler weather

On average, the first 32-degree morning at Logan International Airport is November 5th, and we haven’t hit that mark yet. However, it is more likely, although not a sure bet, that we will hit that threshold in the next couple of mornings. Most of you who live away from the immediate shore are waking up to temperatures in the 20s and 30s today, but plan to get even colder on Thursday and Friday morning.

Skies will be bright blue today with highs in the mid 40s this afternoon. It will feel a little better with that 5 to 10 mph northerly wind rather than the strong winds we had yesterday. Also, the high fire danger continues, the National Weather Service has extended its red flag warning through today.

Tonight, with light winds, temperatures will drop back into the mid-20s and one of the coldest – if not THE the coldest — morning of the season comes Thursday.

High temperatures are forecast for Wednesday in New England.Boston Globe

Thursday afternoon temperatures will again reach the mid-40s with lighter winds. A few clouds arrive Thursday evening as temperatures drop back into the 20s. Logan is likely to reach 32 or lower Thursday or Friday morning for the official end of the growing season in Boston.

On Friday, we see a weather system to the north spinning out into the ocean. If this storm had moved a little closer, the rain and wind would have come our way, but it won’t. Rather, it remains over Atlantic Canada, too far away for any significant weather. However, this may throw some clouds over New England and just a chance for a little sprinkle. Otherwise, look for partly to mostly sunny skies with temperatures between 45 and 50.

The best chance for any showers will come Friday night mainly in the north and that chance is very slim. The bottom line? I wouldn’t plan on it raining.

Saturday is partly sunny with temperatures in the 50s and it gets a little windy that day. Sunday is mostly sunny and slightly milder in the mid to upper 50s.

Southern New England: Bright blue skies for the next two days, with temperatures each afternoon in the mid-40s and in the 20s to 30s as the sun rises. The wind will blow more calmly than in the last 24 hours.

Cape and Islands: Temperatures will only be in the 40s this afternoon, but wind won’t be a factor. There is plenty of sunshine throughout the Cape Cod area.

Western Table: Temperatures will be in the low 40s this afternoon after starting out in the 20s.

Northern New England: Winds will ease today, but temperatures will only be cold in the upper 30s in northern sections and low to mid 40s in the far south. Look for an abundance of sunshine.
