The Sheikh Zayed Criminal Court decided on Tuesday to jail Ashour for six months after accepting the prosecution’s appeal against his acquittal.

The court had previously ruled to acquit the player, but the prosecution decided to challenge the decision.

Ashour’s lawyer and the Al-Ahly club’s legal adviser, Mohamed Othman, said he was not notified of Tuesday’s meeting legally and that the decision against the player was in absentia.
