A wild boar ran over a motorcycle on a road in Hong Kong on Wednesday, injuring the rider and his passenger.

The motorcycle, driven by a 39-year-old man, was traveling along the Kowloon-bound lane of Clear Water Bay Road in Sai Kung when the incident happened shortly after 3am.

As he was walking near the village of Tai Au Mun, “the wild pig rushed onto the road and collided with the motorcycle,” a police spokesman said.

The vehicle overturned on its side, injuring the motorcyclist and his 34-year-old female passenger.

According to the force, the man suffered scratches on both hands and shoulders, while the woman injured her knee.

The two were taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.

The spokesman said the boar was gone before emergency personnel arrived.
