CA will address the World Leaders Action Summit at COP29 today

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will address the opening session of the World Leaders Summit on Climate Action at the Conference of the Parties-29 (COP29) today (November 13).

“The Chief Adviser will deliver his speech at the opening session of the COP29 World Leaders Climate Action Summit, expected today between 1.30pm and 3.00pm (Bangladesh time),” the Adviser’s press office said chief.

COP29 kicked off in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, yesterday (November 12). Professor Yunus is now on a four-day tour to Baku to join the climate meeting.

In addition, Chief Adviser Prof. Yunus had a busy day on the opening day of COP29 in Baku yesterday.

Bangladesh’s caretaker prime minister and 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate met with at least 20 top leaders from various countries around the globe and heads of international agencies.

Prof. Yunus met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the First Lady of Turkey at the world leaders’ summit at COP29.

He also met the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahiyan, on the sidelines of the global climate summit.

The Chief Adviser also met and greeted Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohamed Muizzu, President of Maldives, Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan and Ramchandra Paudel, President of Nepal.

Among others, Prof. Yunus met with the Prime Minister of Belgium, the President of Ghana, the Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the President of Rwanda, the Prime Minister of Albania, the President of Montenegro, the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Vice Presidents of Brazil and Iran, the President of FIFA. and the Director General of the ILO.

In addition, Ahmed Eltayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al Sharif, called on Professor Yunus at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Baku yesterday morning.

The chief adviser arrived in Baku on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at around 17:15 on Monday (November 11).
