McCormick attends Senate orientation with potential recount

(WHTM) – Republican Dave McCormick is in Washington attending Senate orientation as votes continue to be counted in his race against incumbent Sen. Bob Casey.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of State, the race between Casey and McCormick as of Tuesday afternoon is separated by about 33,000 votes and within half a percent of an automatic recount.

The Associated Press projected McCormick as the winner, however, votes are still being counted across the state. Overseas and military ballots have until 5pm on November 12 to be delivered and provisional ballots are subject to a review process.

The State Department says once unofficial returns are received from all counties Tuesday afternoon, the secretary of the commonwealth will determine whether a statewide automatic recount has been triggered in the U.S. Senate race.

Casey has continually called for all votes to be counted in the race and on Tuesday thanked poll workers for their service.
