Neighbors report seeing 30-foot flames after multi-car crash shuts down I-15

Nevada State Police reported that the accident whichclosed I-15at Cactus for several hours Monday sent several people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The agency said the crash involved a semi-truck, an SUV and a motorhome and resulted in a fire.

Residents of Southern Highlands, near the crash site, said the fire was so intense they could feel the heat from a block away.

“I was like what’s going on, what’s going on, I thought it was a small fire, but no, it was a pretty big fire,” said Paul Hoang, a local resident.

“The noise was loud, I thought it was a plane crash and all I saw was flames from, there were flames over the wall maybe 20 to 30 feet of flames,” said Carlton Thomas, a resident in the area.

Jordan Thomas, another neighborhood resident, said not long ago, another crash in the same area ended in flames, which shut down the busy highway for hours.

“It wasn’t the first fire there, just a few months ago there was another fire there and it was just as big, it was a big explosion,” he said.

State police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
