A 78-year-old pedestrian was killed Monday night when she was struck by a pickup truck in Egg Harbor Township, authorities said.

Sharon Parker was hit while trying to cross Tilton Road in the area of ​​Goldenrod Lane just before 6 p.m., police said.

Parker, of Egg Harbor Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 55-year-old Hammonton man, was not charged. Traffic was detoured for about four hours while police investigated.
