‘My heart could explode’ – Limerick rugby ace Conor Murray and wife Joanna welcome first child

MUNSTER and Irish rugby star Conor Murray and his model wife Joanna Murray have welcomed their first child into the world.

The couple, who celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary in June, announced the baby’s arrival Alfie Murray on Instagram Saturday morning.

Joanna gave birth to a baby boy last Tuesday, but the couple decided to spend some private time with their baby before officially announcing their happy news.

“Alfie Murray – 22/10/24,” Joanna posted on her Instagram account, which has 173,000 followers.

The post included an adorable black-and-white photo of Alfie snuggled up in a white robe, each of his tiny hands gripping his parents’ fingers.

Meanwhile, on her Instagram stories, Joanna wrote the words “My heart might explode” in a post above the photo of the baby boy.

Conor cut short his trip to South Africa for the second game of the United Rugby Championship (URC) on October 21 to assist his wife, citing “family reasons” to fly home. Munster play the Sharks at 15.00 at the Kings Park Stadium in Durban this Saturday, October 26.

Ahead of baby Alfie’s arrival, excitement ran high in the Murray household as the new parents prepared to welcome a new baby into their lives.

In the weeks leading up to the big day, both Conor and Joanna said they were busy assembling furniture for their ‘dream nursery’.

The picture-perfect couple chose neutral, warm and cozy tones to decorate little Alfie’s new home.

The best wishes went to the parents for the first time.

Announcing her pregnancy on Instagram earlier this year, Joanna posted a short black-and-white video of herself and husband Conor in May, saying simply “Mummy and Daddy”.

In June, she posted a series of candid pregnancy snaps saying “halfway through.”

In addition, Conor, originally from Patrickswell, previously said Joanna’s pregnancy was “quiet” and that she was “lucky”.

“Not too much sickness, (she’s) just a little tired. That’s it. It’s a good complaint,” he said in July.

A year after marrying Derry lass Joanna, 29, at a luxury Portuguese resort in the Algarve, the 35-year-old said in July he was not ready to give up rugby just yet.

“I’m happy to go. I’m 35 now and I’ve always said I’ll stop at 35 or 36, but I’m not going to say anything and see if they want me to continue, but at the moment I feel good,” Conor said. said in a previous interview with The Sun.

“Being involved in Ireland is a great joy so I will stay as long as they want me here.”
