ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Police in Albuquerque have arrested a gas station employee who is accused of stalking and killing a man who stole money from the store early Sunday morning.

Stephen McCorkle worked at the Shwan gas station on Lomas Boulevard.

Police say McCorkle went to the bathroom and when he returned he saw two homeless people stealing. He is said to have chased one of the men and shot him.

APD responded an hour later to a man lying in the street with a single gunshot wound to the lower right side.

The man has been pronounced deceased and his identity has not yet been released.
