Eagles beat Cowboys 34-6: Game recap

Throughout the game (and even before it started), I don’t think there was any illusion that the Cowboys had a chance to beat the Eagles. Rivalries don’t mean much if your starting QB is out and you have one of the worst rushing offenses in the league. But for a while there in the first half, it looked like Dallas’ defense might at least keep it in a close game. Unfortunately, that changed as soon as Philly scored the last touchdown to end the half.

With QB Cooper Rush filling in, some would have thought he would repeat what he did once before, leading the Cowboys to 4-1 in 2020. But this time, the offense around him was much weaker. He finished just 13 of 23 for 45 yards. Among Dallas’ five turnovers were two Rush fumbles. He was eventually replaced by Trey Lance, who finished four of six completions for 21 yards and an interception. Like their last home game against the Lions, no one scored a touchdown. Only kicker Brandon Aubrey was able to put points on the board with two field goals.

As for the Eagles, QB Jalen Hurts hasn’t been playing his best either. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 202 yards, two passing touchdowns (to TE Dallas Goedert and WR Johnny Wilson), one interception and five sacks. He added seven carries for 56 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He was eventually replaced by Kenny Pickett in the fourth quarter when they had a comfortable 31-6 lead.

With their fifth straight win, the Eagles now improve to 7-2 on the season and the Cowboys fall to 3-6. As the Washington Commanders lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, their record became 7–3, putting the Eagles in first place in the East, the Commanders in second place, the Cowboys in third place, and the Giants in last place after another loss. Carolina Panthers.

The Eagles will play another division rival next week when they host the Commanders on Thursday night as they look to maintain first place in the NFC East.

The Cowboys will have one more chance to get their first home win of the season when they play the Houston Texans next Monday night.
