A Church of England bishop is not calling on the Archbishop of Canterbury to resign after a report shows the Church covered up a series of child abuse cases.

The Bishop of Newcastle, Helen-Ann Hartley, is the most senior member of the Church to call on the Reverend Justin Welby to stand down, following an “appalling, appalling and shocking” report.

Oga Welby is facing mounting pressure to resign after last week he said there were no strictly followed up reports into John Smyth QC’s “abhorrent” abuse of more than 100 boys and young people.

A group that has torched the church’s handling of the Smyth case said Welby assumed it was not reporting the case to authorities and presented details of 2013.

Oga Welby said I am true-truth to put more effort into this case and added last week, I considered resigning but decided to stay for my role.

Di Makin reviewed the Smyth case to say they are being brought to justice for decades of abuse for the death in 2018, if say the church does not cover me and they formally reported to the authorities for 2013.

I believe Smyth is the most prolific serial abuser associated with the Church of England.

Reports say he subjects up to 130 victims to traumatic physical, sexual, psychological and spiritual attacks.

Smyth’s abuse has been going on for nearly five decades and across three counties, according to the report.

He abused between 26 and 30 boys and young men in Britain in the 1970s and 1980s, according to the report.

They moved to Africa, abusing an estimated 85 to 100 “young male children between the ages of 13 and 17.”

Anglican priest Giles Fraser told the BBC that “the clergy do not trust the Reverend Justin Welby” and three members of the Church’s parliament – the General Synod – are not launching a petition calling for Welby to resign, in addition to the “failures” of reporting. Smyth’s abuse.

We call dis photo, The Bishop of Newcastle, Helen-Ann Hartley, says the Church is at risk of losing its credibility.

“It’s very difficult to find words to adequately respond to what he told us,” Bishop Hartley told the BBC.

“I think we rightly asked the question, ‘Are we really putting our trust in the Church of England to keep us safe?’ And I think the answer right now is no,” she said.

Dr. Hartley says it’s very difficult for the church to “continue to have a moral voice” if “we can’t get our own house to see something as extremely important.”

“We are in danger of losing our total credibility on this,” she added.

She says Welby’s resignation should not “solve the safeguarding issue” but be “a very clear signal, let’s not draw the line and say we need to move towards independence of safeguarding”.
