Almost half of Queensland’s eligible voting population have already cast their ballots before the polls open today.

According to the Queensland Electoral Commission, there are 3.68 million registered voters in the state.

Officials confirmed that 1.68 million people voted early in some form.

“Of the 3.68 million voters registered to vote in Queensland, almost two million people have already voted, either during early voting, postal voting or through other channels such as telephone voting,” the Electoral Commissioner said Bed Vidgen.
