Police bust prostitution racket in Maharashtra

Authorities in Maharashtra’s Palghar district have successfully busted a prostitution ring, leading to the arrest of a 50-year-old suspect, Rajesh Hasmukhlal Shah. This operation, led by the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Cell, has brought to light the illegal activities flourishing in the region.

Before the police raid, an undercover client hired Shah via WhatsApp, negotiating a deal valued at Rs 29,000. This undercover operation was crucial in exposing the exploitation of the women, aged between 40 and 42, who were later sent to a shelter for protection.

Inspector Saurabhi Pawar, who heads the Nalla Sopara unit, outlined the charge against Shah under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act, signaling a stern warning to those involved in such illicit activities.
