The Duke of York’s funds have been cleared as coming from legitimate sources, according to “The Sunday Times”

Prince Andrew raised the money to continue staying at the Royal Lodge after King Charles personal allowance has been cut, according to a new report.

Duke of York, 64 — whose elder brother according to reports instructed the holder of the privy purse to strip away his £1m ($1.3m) annual personal allowance and stop paying for personal security following a reported move ultimatum – he has now raised the money to continue to live at the Royal Lodge of Windsor, where he has lived since 2003, according to The Sunday Times. According to the publication, Prince Andrew’s funds have been approved by the Keeper of the Privy Purse, Sir Michael Stevens, as coming from legitimate sources.

Buckingham Palace did not comment when contacted by PEOPLE.

The latest update comes after King Charles, 75, recently cut some financial ties to the Duke of York, according to a book excerpt shared by Daily Mail at the beginning of this month.

In an updated version of his book, Charles III: The New King. New Court. The inside storyauthor Robert Hardman wrote that Prince Andrew did not accept a proposal to move from the Royal Lodge at Windsor to the “considerably smaller property” Frogmore Cottage – which was previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before their move to the United States.

According to the extract shared last week, if the Duke of York had continued to live at Windsor Royal Lodge and rejected “the King’s offer for Frogmore Cottage”, then he was told the King “would feel no obligation to pay even day. -the living allowance for today.”

“The Duke informed the monarch that, regardless of any ultimatum, he would remain at the Royal Lodge anyway,” Hardman wrote in his book. “At that time the holder of the privy purse (the monarchy’s chief financial officer) was instructed to withdraw his living allowance.”
